Friday afternoon, I traveled to the Historic Roswell, Georgia. There in a quaint square is the Ann Jackson Gallery, who was hosting an opening reception for the new exhibit, Hats Off To Dr. Seuss. In celebration of the 75th anniversary of Dr. Seuss’s second book, The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins, this exhibit features the never-seen-before secret hat collection and artwork of Dr. Seuss.
Over 60 years, Seuss collected hats from all over the world. His collection grew to over 500 hats! Where did he keep these 500 hats?? You might ask. In a secret closet behind a bookcase of course! There is where Dr. Seuss kept his beloved collection of hats. Now for the first time, his private collection of hats are traveling outside his Seuss Estate, including the very famous “Cat In The Hat” hat.
The Hats Off To Dr. Seuss exhibit offers the rare opportunity to enter the mind of Dr. Seuss. As I walked through the gallery, studying each piece, he became a even more interesting yet peculiar person. His humor definitely was apparent in his artwork and hat collection. I truly enjoyed this exhibit. If you’re a Dr. Seuss fan, go see it! If you’re not, go see it anyway! The art is awesome!
