Speed Rack is Coming to Atlanta, Bringing Sisterhood and a Craft Cocktail Competition

Hey Atlanta! There’s an awesome all-female speed-bartending competition coming to town on Sunday, February 12, 2017. Even more awesome is that this competition raises money for breast cancer charities. 23 of the best, brightest, and fastest female bartenders in the region will compete in Speed Rack’s 6th tour stop in Atlanta. Local bartenders will include:

Sarah Baker – Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall; Atlanta, GA

Taylor Blackgrave – The Lawrence; Atlanta, GA

Jessie Harmon – Gunshow; Atlanta, GA

Paige Lane – Saltyard; Atlanta, GA

Emily Earp Mitchell – Bar Margot; Atlanta, GA

Tokiwa Sears – JP Atlanta; Atlanta, GA

Keyatta Mincey – The Mariott Northwest at Galleria, The Sound Table, The Southern Gentleman; Atlanta, GA

Britiney Murphy – Tupelo Honey Cafe; Sandy Springs, GA

Kellie Thorn – Empire State South;        Atlanta, GA

Stephanie Saputo – Serpas Restaurant; Atlanta, GA

Speed Rack will take place at The Southern Exchange in downtown Atlanta.

Contestants will compete in timed heats to make rounds of cocktails, culled from a list of 50 accepted industry-standard classic recipes, in front of a panel of judges and a crowd of excited viewers. Judges rate each drink based on prep time and accuracy. The judging panel at Speed Rack Southeast will feature celebrated writers and cocktail-world luminaries such as: Colin Appiah (senior portfolio ambassador, Bacardi), Tiffanie Barriere (brand ambassador and top Atlanta mixologist, Tequila Avión), Misty Kalkofen (“madrina” and mezcal maven, Del Maguey), and one additional judge soon to be announced. Pernod Ricard USA’s senior manager of brand ambassadors and brand advocacy, Jamie Gordon, and Pernod Ricard USA’s manager of brand advocacy, Josh Pearson, will emcee the proceedings.

To date, Speed Rack has raised more than $500,000 globally for breast cancer charities and elevated top female bartenders in America and abroad who go shaker-to-shaker competing for industry glory and a Speed Rack title.

The finalists from each city will join Speed Rack Founders Lynnette Marrero and Ivy Mix for an educational trip to both the Jameson Distillery in Ireland and the Altos Distillery in Arandas, Mexico. Each visit will include an opportunity to see the distilling process up close from agave to glass and grain to glass. The grand prize will be announced at the National Finals on May 21, 2017 in New York.
