Warpole Street, marking the fourth location for franchisees Ryan and Wanda Hoehn. As a media guest, I had the opportunity to attend the Grand Opening celebration on Tuesday, June 3—and the community spirit, savory bites, and welcoming energy made it a truly special event.
A Grand Opening with Small-Town Charm
The ribbon-cutting ceremony kicked off with Upper Sandusky’s Mayor and several local leaders in attendance to welcome Lee’s to the neighborhood. Guests were treated to a complimentary chicken meal, exclusive Lee’s swag, and chances to win gift certificates.
“My husband and I chose this location because the Upper Sandusky community has a great small-town atmosphere and reminded us of the other areas in which we operate our Lee’s restaurants,” said Wanda Hoehn, who, alongside her husband Ryan, also owns Lee’s restaurants in Wapakoneta, Delphos, and St. Marys, Ohio.
A Historic Site with a Modern Twist
Fried chicken lovers will appreciate the rich backstory: this location was originally a KFC—and fittingly, Lee Cummings, the founder of Lee’s, was the nephew of Colonel Sanders himself. Lee branched out on his own and launched Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken in Lima, Ohio, in 1966. Nearly 60 years later, the brand continues to thrive with over 130 restaurants across 12 U.S. states and Canada.
