2nd Annual Dames and Dregs 2019 – A Photo Recap

This past Saturday, craft beer enthusiasts gathered in downtown Atlanta to celebrate women, the original brewers, at the 2nd Annual Dames and Dregs Beer Festival. The beer fest featured 40+ breweries, over 120 beers poured, including 16 exclusive pours. It’s was a good time!! Can’t wait for next year! Check out some of my photos!!

Atlanta Eats: Ramen Station

Several years ago, back in my college dorm days, Ramen was pretty much a staple. You could almost always guarantee there would be a pack of Ramen in every college student care package. Eventually, I grew tired of the salty two-minute meal. I actually became very nauseous to the smell of it. Before long I couldn’t even bear to look at it for many years.

Fast forward 20 years, you’ll find me searching for my new favorite Ramen spot. I’ve grown to absolutely love the ramen culture. I’ve even attended a Ramen Fest, which was amazing!

A couple of weeks ago, I was looking for a random spot to check out that was nearby. My trusty Yelp app directed me to Ramen Station. Upon entering, my daughter and I were warmly greeted by a very nice young lady. She was very helpful in answering any questions, as well as suggesting additional menu items.

VEGETABLE SHOYU
CHICKEN SHIO

I ordered the VEGETABLE SHOYU, ramen with dashi broth, mushrooms, local seasonal vegetables, and shoyu tamago egg. My daughter ordered the CHICKEN SHIO, ramen with dashi (chicken broth), tender chicken breast, sea salts, vegetables, and a shoyu tamago egg. We also ordered an order of edamame.

Edamame

Our food came out fairly quickly. The edamame was perfectly steamed and salted. I could have eaten two more bowls of that edamame. My VEGETABLE SHOYU Ramen was very flavorful and seasoned nicely, as was my daughter’s. We will definitely be back again!

The Ramen Station offers six different ramen bowls as well as an assortment of buns, rice bowls, poke bowls, and Japanese small bites.

Breakfast and lunch will be available for members and their guests daily with a complimentary hotel-style breakfast offered every Monday. The No18 Buckhead Resident Chef is Desmon Short, who brings more than fifteen years of culinary experience and formal training from Johnson & Wales University. “No18 will focus on local, seasonal ingredients, combined with international cuisine, and exceptional amenities promoting gracious hospitality, in a space that feels like home,” said Short. No18 will also offer members a full-service bar serving handcrafted, seasonal cocktails, wine, beer, and mocktinis. 

Pricing for memberships starts at $300 per month, with permanent workspaces from $750 per month.

IRON HILL BREWERY & RESTAURANT COMING TO ATLANTA, GA IN 2020

Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant announced today they have signed a lease in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia. Located in the heart of Buckhead at EDENS’ Lenox Marketplace, the more than 7,770 sq. ft. space will feature Iron Hill’s signature on-site brewing facility as well as seating for approximately 250 in the bar area and dining room, plus additional patio seating. As part of their “20 by 20” initiative, to open and operate 20 locations by the year 2020, the Atlanta Buckhead location will be the company’s 18th location and their second in the southeast.

5 Easy To Follow Cocktail Recipes To Try for National Tequila Day

Tomorrow is National Tequila Day! If you’re not in the mood to go out to have Tequila cocktails, try these five easy to follow recipes. Thanks to Atlanta restaurants, Molly B’s, The Shed at Glenwood, Dantannas, PARISH, and Bully Boys, you can sip to your hearts content in the comforts of your own home.

Molly B’s Pine-Jalapeño-Rita:

Jalapeño Syrup Recipe (Batch recipe for 15 cocktails)

Ingredients:

1/16th lbs. Jalapeños (Chopped)

.5 quarts sugar

.25 quarts water

Teaspoon Pectin

Preparation:

1. Simmer jalapeños, sugar and water for 2 hours, remove from heat.

2. Add pectin, stir and transfer to blender.

3. Puree ingredients, let chill.

Pine-Jalapeño-Rita Cocktail Recipe

Ingredients:

2 oz. Dulce Vida Pineapple Jalapeano Tequila

1 oz. Lime Juice

.5 oz. Jalapeño Syrup

Glassware: Rocks Glass

Preparation:

1. In tin combine: ice, 2oz Dulce Vida Pineapple Jalapeño Tequila, 1oz Lime Juice, .5 oz Jalapeño Syrup.

2. Shake and pour in rocks glass.

3. Garnish with pineapple wedge

The Shed at Glenwood’s Chihuahua’s Respite:

Ingredients:

2 oz. Sotol Reposado

4 oz. Watermelon Aqua Fresca

1/2 oz. Orange Curaçao

1.5 oz. Topo Chico

Mint Leaves

Preparation:

1. Combine all the ingredients in a shaker tin.

2. Shake well and pout over ice.

3. Garnish with mint leaves.

Dantanna’s Maestro Margarita:

Ingredients:

1 1/2 oz. Dantanna’s signature blend of Maestro Dobel tequila

3/4 oz. Cointreau

Fresh Sour Mix

Kosher Salt

Preparation:

1. Rim glass with salt before, if desired.

2. 3 oz house-made sour mix (1 part fresh lime juice, 1 part fresh lemon juice, 2 parts simple syrup).

3. Build in bar tin with ice, shake, and strain into a tall glass over ice.

PARISH’s Smoke Gets in Your Eyes:

Ingredients:

1.5 oz. tequila (pref reposado)

.5 oz. mezcal

.5 oz. lime

.5 oz. agave syrup or simple syrup

3 oz. grapefruit juice

Topo Chico or Soda Water

Preparation:

1. Combine tequila. mezcal, agave syrup and grapefruit juice into a shaker tin.

2. Shake well and pour into glass with salted rim.

3. Top with topo chico (or soda water).

4. Garnish with lime wedge and enjoy.

Bully Boy’s Tequila #1:

Ingredients:

1 1/2 oz. El Jimador Reposado

3/4 oz. Ramazzoti Aperitivo Rosato

1 1/2 oz. Lime Juice

1 oz. Guava Agave

Preparation:

1. Combine all ingredients and shake well, then pour over crushed ice.

2. Top with Himalayan Lava Sea Salt.

3. Garnish with Kefir Lime Leaves & Edible Flowers.

Saturday & Sunday: Create your own Origami and paper crafts with the experts from The Japan-American Society of Georgia. Romp with the Lion Dancers, learn Kung Fu, and enjoy special performances with Chien Hong School of Kung Fu.

Everything Was Just Peachy | Atlanta PeachFest 2019 Recap

Yesterday was a most beautiful day in the peach state, as Atlanta was the location of the 3rd Annual PeachFest. The event was held downtown in the newly renovated Peachtree Center, where 65+ chefs, farmers, and bartenders joined to pay tribute to the almighty peach. Peachfest guest had the opportunity to sample the best peach inspired dishes and cocktails from some of Atlanta’s most well-known chefs and mixologist.
