Easy Raw Vegan Banana Split

Who doesn’t love a delicious banana split? I know I do! While taking the #RawVeganChallenge, I decided to make a raw vegan version of the classic treat. Instead of ice cream, I used whipped coconut cream, which is a mixture of coconut cream and raw agave. For the toppings, I used some fresh strawberries and walnuts. I also crumbled up some raw vegan brownies on top to elevate it at bit. What’s awesome about this recipe is that it’s totally customizable. I’ve used blueberries, pineapples, mango, pecan, pumpkin seeds, the list is deliciously endless.

5 Ways to Have a Stress-Free Move

*Please note this post may contain affiliate links.

Moving can be stressful, but it does not have to be. If you take the proper steps of preparation and execution, your life can be significantly easier during a move. How? Let me explain. First of all, everyone is different, so you have to make sure that you know your strengths and weaknesses. If your weakness is organization, maybe really focus on that before the movers come. If you cannot lift a box to save your life, outsource it. Whatever your ‘weakness’ is, admit it and find a solution to make it better and easier on you.

That’s really all life, in general, is about. Finding your strengths, focusing on them, and then getting help when it comes to your weaknesses. I will say that moving is a bit different because it’s not an everyday situation, so you might not know what your weaknesses are. In that case, go through my list of 5 ways to have a stress-free move and just walk through the motions. If you notice that you are absolutely awful at a certain step, find help. Easy, right? Let’s start talking about the ways to help you have a stress-free move:

Declutter

In order to make the overall packing and moving process seamless, you really do have to declutter. Uncluttered Simplicity says, “There are many benefits of decluttering before you move. Such as:

•You’ll save money. The less you have to move, the less it will cost to move it.

Your home will be easier to stage (if you are selling).

•You will have less to unpack in your new home.

•Your new home will be easier to organize/clean.

Out of these reasons, saving money is by far my favorite! As I said, we learned our lesson the hard way by thinking we needed to take everything with us the first time around. I still shudder when I think of the money we wasted on that move!”

There are so many benefits when it comes to decluttering before you start packing. A great tip that she gives is to declutter while you are packing, as well. There are times where you will skip over to miss and item or two. If you have a “trash” or “donate” box along with your packing/moving boxes, you can declutter a second time, which will help you unpack faster and more efficiently once you get in the new house.

Pack Over Time

Packing over time is always so much easier than rushing to pack at the last minute. It not only allows for more of a stress-free experience, but it also allows you to really take the time to go through each item and figure out if you truly want or need it, or not. Go Marie Kondo style and find out if the item brings you joy and adds to your life. More than likely, there will be quite a bit that does not bring joy to your life. Packing over time also lets you enjoy your life, without having to be glued to your old house and moving boxes. You can take the process slow and steady, without getting overwhelmed.

Hire Help

Hiring help for your moving experience is the number one way to reduce your stress and have an overall stress-free move. Just think about it – once you declutter and pack up, you are able to go out and enjoy life with your friends instead of having to lift heavy boxes and potentially risk hurting yourself by doing too much. Not everyone can lift a couch, but moving companies, like Atlanta Peach Movers can and will. Save your time, energy, and back by letting them do the heavy lifting for you.

Atlanta Peach Movers is Atlanta, Georgia’s premier full-service moving company. They have over 30 years of proven experience, a fleet of 38 vehicles, and thousands of satisfied customers. Atlanta Peach Movers offers residential, commercial, long distance, white glove, and even international moving services, as well, which shows that no job is too big or too small for them. They believe in doing an excellent job at a fair price – without hidden charges or fees – and they always strive to earn your trust during the moving process.

Every single one of their employees are professionally trained, as they go through an extensive training program unlike any other. They say, “We call it “Peach University,” an on-site training facility where our moving staff receives intensive instruction and practice in the careful handling of our customer’s belongings. Every employee is thoroughly trained before ever participating in a move, and all employees are required to revisit the training facility for continued instruction throughout the year. We have one the lowest claims percentages in the country because we make sure our professional movers do the job right the first time.”

President and CEO of Atlanta Peach Movers, Orlando Lynch, has worked non-stop since 1987 “to become one of the most recognized and respected leaders in the Southeast relocation industry and to create not only Georgia’s largest moving and storage company, but the region’s best, with an unwavering emphasis on customer service and quality.” His hard work and effort with Atlanta Peach Movers has been rewarded with many awards and honors such as being named the “2012 Affiliate of the Year – Atlanta Board of Realtors”, and “2011 Vendor of the Year” by the Women of AT&T – Atlanta Chapter, as well as being named the “2010 Supplier of the Year” by the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council.

Clean or Renovate Before Moving

If you are moving into a home that you need to clean or renovate (you should really clean any new home you move into), do it before you move. It’s so much easier to get your renovations done before you actually move in, so that you do not have to worry about your furniture or other items getting ruined from paint, etc. For cleaning specifically, you are going to want to give your home a really good clean. In fact, I always recommend hiring someone to do this for you AND also either replacing all carpet in the home, or getting someone to give it a really good deep clean. In addition, you should always get your air ducts cleaned. You never know what might be in there and the health of your family depends on it! Make the moving process just a bit easier by waiting to move until after your renovations or cleaning processes have taken place.

Have Fun!

When it comes down to it, not everyone loves moving, so just have fun with it. Blast the music, goof around, have friends help you, and maybe even have a pizza party. Moving is just a temporary situation, so if you have fun with it, you are set! I will say, though, that they best way to have fun (in my opinion) is to go out for pizza while Atlanta Peach Movers are doing the heavy lifting for you! 😉

How to Plan the Perfect Pool Party

*Please note this post may contain affiliate links.

The hot summer months are coming up and trust me, if you are not familiar with Atlanta weather, just know that it gets hotter than hot and everyone just wants to hang out in pools. Each summer, I always plan to attend a few pool parties to keep up with friends and family, have fun, and stay cool. Over the years, I have always wanted to plan a pool party of my very own! This year will be the year! I wrote this post to show you how I will be preparing to have a successful pool party. It takes a lot of time and effort but in the end your guest will have a grand time.

Invitation List

First thing is first – you need to create an invitation list and you need to think long and hard about this list. The people you invite to any get together or party will make or break your event, so always think carefully about who you invite, before you invite them. Is it a family event? Are kids invited? Does everyone get along? These are just a couple of the questions you should ask yourself before creating the invitation list.

Chicago Tribune says, “For large events like weddings, some planners recommend using “A” and “B” lists. Send invitations six to eight weeks ahead to your A list, explained Jodi R.R. Smith, author of “The Etiquette Book: A Complete Guide to Modern Manners” (Sterling). As regrets roll in, send invites to your B list four to six weeks ahead.

But others warn this system can cause resentment when any guests learn of their B-list status. Instead, consider “save-the-date” cards to whittle out-of-towners from your list. “Before they get the invitations, they’ll tell you if none of them is coming or if they’re making it a big reunion,” said Danielle Couick, a Columbia, Md., event planner and spokeswoman for the National Association for Catering and Events.”

Although a pool party is typically a smaller event, you can still use this mindset and use people from list B when people from list A send in regrets.

Food and Drinks

Food and drinks might even be more important than your guest list. Once again, it has the potential to make or break a party. For a pool party specifically, food and drinks are very important to make sure your guests are well fueled, in order to avoid potentially bad situations. So, always make sure to provide some type of food and drink and plan your menu accordingly. You want healthy snacks, maybe a few unhealthy (but tasty) treats, plenty of water, and something with electrolytes, as well. Watermelon is a great snack option because it not only tastes good and helps fill people up, but it also helps hydrate people, which is very beneficial during the hot summer months.

A Clean Pool

Talk about making or breaking a party! A clean pool is essential and more important than anything else. If you are looking for a trustworthy pool service to clean up your pool for a party, or more importantly, for the pool season, I always recommend Triton Pool Service. Triton Pool Service leads by example — they aim to set the bar for quality pool service and outstanding customer service. All of their service techs show up to your home in uniform, ready to take care of your pool maintenance, and all of their techs are factory trained, nationally certified, and fully insured, so you (and they) are fully protected. Triton Pool Service has serviced over 1,000 pools, has repaired over 500 pools, has replaced over 100 pumps, and has over 250 happy clients. They are officially the most trusted pool cleaning and pool repair company in Georgia!

According to the website, Andrew (Andy) May is the owner and operator of Triton Pool Service “Andrew has lived in Georgia his whole life, growing up in the Atlanta area and living in Hall county for over 10 years. He now lives in Braselton with his wife and two young daughters. In addition to being a husband and father, Andrew spends as much time outdoors as he can (which is great considering his choice in profession). He also spends time at race tracks across the south and is a high performance driving instructor for various tracks and organizations. Anticipating providing pool leak detection, in 2015 Andy received his Open Water Dive Certification with PADI. In 2019, he went a step further, receiving his Advanced Open Water Certification. Andy has been diving all over the world, including Thailand, Belize and Hawaii, and is ready to dive your pool to find that leak.”

Triton Pool Service provides services such as pool maintenance, pool repair, pool equipment installation, pool leak detection, pool opening and closings, salt water conversions, and more. A swimming pool is a huge investment and protecting yours is essential. Typical services from Triton Pool Service include, but are not limited to skimming, vacuuming any debris, brushing, emptying skimmer and pump baskets, chemically testing and balancing the water, backwashing sand filters as needed or cleaning cartridge filters as need. These services are essential, in order to lower your chances of encountering a major issue with your pool!

So, for your next pool party, or whenever you need pool services and pool management done to your pool, consider calling Andy at Triton Pool Services! They service cities such as Gainesville, Braselton, Hoschton, Oakwood, Flowery Branch, Buford, Suwanee, Sugar Hill, and more.

Music and Decorations

Music is essential and a few decorations here and there never hurt anyone. Choose your music based on your crowd and based on the time of the day. I always recommend making a playlist before the big day so that you do not have to worry about it on the day of. Also, having a waterproof speaker is amazing because you can take it in or around the pool without having to worry about it! For decorations, a little goes a long way. I always say that pool floats are good useful decorations, but whatever floats your boat (pun definitely intended).

Relaxation

Last but not least, you need an area or areas where your guests can relax. Like I mentioned, adding pool floats is a great way to add decoration and it can double as a great way for guests to relax, as well. In addition, always make sure to have enough chairs so that people do not have to stand or stay in the pool the entire time.

How to Throw the Perfect Spring Picnic with Evan Williams Honey

*This post is sponsored by Evan Williams Honey. All opinions are that of my own. #ShowMeTheHoney

This week, we welcomed the official start of Spring. Winter has been pretty brutal this year to say the least. Like most people, I am eagerly waiting for the warm and sunny days of Spring to appear. Longer days and warmer weather are also very crucial to the honeybee. They’ve been hibernating through winter surviving only on last year’s harvest. They are now ready to go out and begin this year’s pollination and nectar collecting. Just like bees, humans are ready to get out of the house and enjoy a little sunshine. What better way to do this than a picnic with some friends and family. The best part about having a picnic is that you don’t have to go very far and you don’t have to spend too much to have a successful one. They can be on the weekend, during the week, even in the evening.

To celebrate the beginning of Spring, I threw a picnic with some of my family. As I mentioned earlier, winter is definitely staying around too long. That being said, we didn’t have spring-like conditions. Even though it was chilly, we had still had an amazing time. While planning my picnic, I decided I wanted to share a few tips on how to plan a successful spring picnic with you.

My inspiration for this post comes from the flavor profile of Evan Williams Honey. Evan Williams Honey combines the great taste of honey with the smoothness of Evan Williams for a drink everyone can enjoy. It definitely screams warm weather, flowers blooming, and a good time. I also love the design of the bottle, adorned with the mighty honeybee, the star of this libation creation. This spring, as the honeybee comes out of hibernation, let us celebrate their return with a bottle of Evan Williams Honey.

Invitations

In this digital age the best way to get the word out about your spring picnic is to send a text. I love creating invitations with graphic apps. There are quite a few out there so find your favorite and get creative! Your invitation should include the day, time and location of the picnic.

Location

Location can be tricky if you live in a state that isn’t particularly warm at the beginning of Spring. Plan accordingly with a plan B in case it’s cold or even raining. That might mean having tents readily available or even having an indoor location as a backup. It may be a good idea to have tables in case it rains or the ground is wet from it raining the night before. Definitely monitor the weather. You want everyone one to have a great time.

If you are fortunate enough to have the perfect weather situation for a picnic, the blue skies, sun shining, and birds tweeting the soundtrack to your party, you have a host of options. The park is definitely a great idea. Just be sure to be informed and respect the park’s rules. I love the idea of placing several blankets on the grass for people to sit and enjoy their surroundings. Don’t forget to provide a few pillows for additional comfort.

If you have a beautiful yard, that would a great choice to have your picnic. I had my picnic at home. Having a picnic table in my backyard worked perfectly with the weather situation I had. Later this spring, I’m definitely going to throw another party!

Drinks & Cocktails

If you want to really impress your guests, show them your mixology skills with a couple Spring-themed cocktails. This Spring, Evan Williams Honey is the perfect drink to welcome the warmer months ahead. With the smoothness of Evan Williams and the sweetest of real natural honey, it’s the perfect addition to your springtime bar.

Enjoying Evan Williams Honey can be as simple as pouring it into a glass and adding ice or topping it off with your favorite mixer. It’s what you would call an easy drinking whiskey. Evan Williams Honey brings fun to whatever you and your friends are up to this Spring. Consider the following drinks to serve.

Honey Lemon

Ingredients

2 oz. Evan Williams Honey Lemonade

On the Rocks

3 oz Evan Williams Honey Ice

Honey Rosemary Old Fashioned

Ingredients

2 oz Evan Williams Honey

1 tbsp rosemary simple syrup

3 dash of bitters
rosemary sprig for garnish

Ice

Instructions

To make rosemary simple syrup- Combine 1 cup water, 1 cup raw sugar, and 2 sprigs of rosemary in a small pot. Allow to simmer for about 20 minutes. Remove rosemary and strain. Let cool completely.

To make cocktail- Add Evan Williams Honey, rosemary simple syrup, and bitters to rocks glass. Add ice and stir for 15 seconds. Garnish with rosemary sprig. Sip and enjoy.

Bites & Such

Nothing beats a charcuterie board paired with an amazing cocktail menu. Creating a simple and delicious cheese & charcuterie board starts with selecting contrasts, colors, and textures. Your spread can include assorted cheeses, crackers, olives, sliced carrots, assorted deli meats, French bread, grapes, nuts, and berries.

Your guest might want the option of having a sandwich, so be sure to have sandwich making condiments available. Another idea is to have an assortment of dips to offer as well. Remember, the key to selecting the perfect spread is choosing items that are easy to share and eat.

Decorations

Picnic Basket

You can’t have a picnic without a picnic basket. Although they can pretty pricey, I suggest to always be on the lookout for one. You may come across a deal at an after- summer clearance or even while thrift shopping.

Flowers

It’s Spring! So you have to have flowers! I made a few centerpieces with a mason jar, a few slices of lemon, and topped it off with a bunch of baby’s-breath. They came out so cute! And it was quite inexpensive to make. I probably spent $8 total to make four! Flowers are the perfect way to add the Spring vibes to your picnic!

Glasses & Drinkware

I am very particular about what I drink my cocktails out of, so glasses were a must. Nothing messes up a perfectly crafted cocktail like it being served in a plastic cup. Since my picnic took place at home, I was able to use glassware. Most parks do not allow glass, so be mindful of that.

Picnic Blankets

I love a picnic with picnic blankets! They set the tone for your outdoor dining room, as well as protect your food from the outside elements. Choosing a blanket to go along with your theme adds a special touch. This option is weather permitting of course!
