IRON HILL BREWERY & RESTAURANT COMING TO ATLANTA, GA IN 2020

Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant announced today they have signed a lease in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia. Located in the heart of Buckhead at EDENS’ Lenox Marketplace, the more than 7,770 sq. ft. space will feature Iron Hill’s signature on-site brewing facility as well as seating for approximately 250 in the bar area and dining room, plus additional patio seating. As part of their “20 by 20” initiative, to open and operate 20 locations by the year 2020, the Atlanta Buckhead location will be the company’s 18th location and their second in the southeast.

About Iron Hill

Named after the historic Revolutionary War landmark in Delaware, where General George Washington battled the British, Iron Hill is among the most enduringly successful craft brewers in the United States. Its 22-year consecutive medal-winning streak at national and international competitions is the longest by any independent craft brewery.

Founded by home brewers Kevin Finn, Mark Edelson and restaurateur Kevin Davies in Newark, DE in 1996, Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant has blossomed from one restaurant and brewery to 16 locations up and down the East Coast, including Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey and South Carolina. Each brewery/restaurant has their own scratch kitchen and craft brewery, allowing individual chefs and brewers the creativity to pair the freshest ingredients with the highest quality grains and hops. For 22 years, Iron Hill has incorporated beer in everything they do. As a result, Finn, Edelson and Davies are viewed as innovative business leaders in their home state of Delaware and in the Mid-Atlantic region. They started Iron Hill at a time when small breweries were just beginning to gain mass appeal around the country and their entrepreneurial, forward thinking helped build them into what they are to date. Each individual location has its own head brewer. Each location dedicates itself to the freshest ingredients and friendly atmosphere for all age groups – helping change overall perceptions about brewpubs one meal, one pint, one community at a time.

Pizza Rules Everything Around Me | Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria Brings Their Love of Music, Art and Pizza To Atlanta

Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria ~ West Midtown Atlanta

In 2017, three college friends, Clint Gray, Derrick Moore and E.J. Reed, opened their first Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria in North Nashville. This past May, they brought their Pizza.Art.Music restaurant concept to Atlanta. It is quickly becoming Atlanta’s new favorite artisan pizza destination.

The Experience

Upon entering the West Midtown establishment, you are given your 3 step guide to the ultimate Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria experience. You start by ordering your pizza. There are two options, select one of their Signature Pizzas or Build Your Own. Pizzas come in two sizes, slim (10”) and husky (16”). All pizza dough and sauces are made daily from scratch in the restaurant. Signature pizzas are named after the founders’ favorite hip hop and r&b artist and songs. You’ll find the Cee No Green, Got 5 On It, The Smokin’ Herb, and the Red Light Special on the menu. Look out for their Signature Vegan Pizza, Nothin But A “V” Thing!

I ordered the California Love (Spinach Basil Pesto, S+H House Cheese Blend, Artichoke, Sliced Tomato Blend and Red Onion). I also opted to add shrimp to my pizza. As part of the Slim & Husky’s experience, your pizza is built right in front of you. After selecting all of your toppings, your pizza is placed in the oven to be baked to perfection.

Next, you pay for your food and select your beverage of choice. Slim & Husky’s offers a nice selection of local beers as well as an additional list of craft beers curated by craft beer blogger, Ale Sharpton. If you’re the mood for a refreshing cocktail, check their Ice Ice Babies. I tried the Tea Bozz, a very tasty tea lemonade and vodka frozen treat. Slim & Husky’s also has sweet tea and fountain drinks, including a selection from Stubborn Soda.

You definitely don’t want to leave without ordering their amazingly delicious Cinnamon Rolls. There are 5 flavors to choose from that can be purchased at 2 for $5 or 6 for $12. I tasted all 5 flavors and enjoyed each one. You most definitely should try all 5 flavors! My favorite was the Ms. Berry. The Ms. Berry Cinnamon Roll was made with blueberry and a fresh lemon glaze. Delicious!!

Shortly after ordering, your name will be called to pick your pizza up. Be sure to stop by The Drizzle Station to elevate your pizza a couple more notches. There are 6 housemade drizzles to choose from including Jalapeño Cilantro Ranch, Stone Ground Peach Mustard, and Chipotle Pineapple BBQ.

Now it’s time to sit and enjoy what’s been carefully prepared for you. My pizza was absolutely delicious! I believe a great pizza starts with a stellar crust. Slim & Husky’s got that right! Their crust is awesome and the sauce is very good! Love that spinach basil pesto! My pizza was perfectly baked and I enjoyed every bite of it.

Slim & Husky’s concept is inspired by Hip Hop and R&B culture, which you will not only see in the naming of menu items, but also in the decor. Murals and paintings beautifully grace their walls and bring you into the world of Slim + Husky’s.

Cool Mural located in the women’s restroom.

You will find ample seating inside the restaurant as well as on their outside patio. I loved how bright and lively it was. All that great natural light was perfect for taking pictures! The vibes were great and I can’t wait to go back! #PREAM

Easy Raw Vegan Banana Split

Who doesn’t love a delicious banana split? I know I do! While taking the #RawVeganChallenge, I decided to make a raw vegan version of the classic treat. Instead of ice cream, I used whipped coconut cream, which is a mixture of coconut cream and raw agave. For the toppings, I used some fresh strawberries and walnuts. I also crumbled up some raw vegan brownies on top to elevate it at bit. What’s awesome about this recipe is that it’s totally customizable. I’ve used blueberries, pineapples, mango, pecan, pumpkin seeds, the list is deliciously endless.

Raw Vegan Banana Split

  • Servings: 1
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Print

A raw vegan take on the classic banana split, perfect for dessert or breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 1 banana
  • 3 strawberries, sliced
  • 1 can full fat coconut milk, chilled overnight.
  • 1 tsp raw agave
  • 1/4 walnuts, chopped
  • 1 raw vegan brownies, crumbled

Directions

  1. To make coconut whipped cream, remove I/4 cup of cream from the top of can. In a small bowl add coconut cream and agave and whip until combined. Set aside.
  2. Split banana lengthwise. Place on plate.
  3. Top with whipped coconut cream, followed by strawberries, walnuts and raw vegan brownies. Serve.

5 Ways to Have a Stress-Free Move

*Please note this post may contain affiliate links.

Moving can be stressful, but it does not have to be. If you take the proper steps of preparation and execution, your life can be significantly easier during a move. How? Let me explain. First of all, everyone is different, so you have to make sure that you know your strengths and weaknesses. If your weakness is organization, maybe really focus on that before the movers come. If you cannot lift a box to save your life, outsource it. Whatever your ‘weakness’ is, admit it and find a solution to make it better and easier on you.

That’s really all life, in general, is about. Finding your strengths, focusing on them, and then getting help when it comes to your weaknesses. I will say that moving is a bit different because it’s not an everyday situation, so you might not know what your weaknesses are. In that case, go through my list of 5 ways to have a stress-free move and just walk through the motions. If you notice that you are absolutely awful at a certain step, find help. Easy, right? Let’s start talking about the ways to help you have a stress-free move:

Declutter

In order to make the overall packing and moving process seamless, you really do have to declutter. Uncluttered Simplicity says, “There are many benefits of decluttering before you move. Such as:

•You’ll save money. The less you have to move, the less it will cost to move it.

Your home will be easier to stage (if you are selling).

•You will have less to unpack in your new home.

•Your new home will be easier to organize/clean.

Out of these reasons, saving money is by far my favorite! As I said, we learned our lesson the hard way by thinking we needed to take everything with us the first time around. I still shudder when I think of the money we wasted on that move!”

There are so many benefits when it comes to decluttering before you start packing. A great tip that she gives is to declutter while you are packing, as well. There are times where you will skip over to miss and item or two. If you have a “trash” or “donate” box along with your packing/moving boxes, you can declutter a second time, which will help you unpack faster and more efficiently once you get in the new house.

Pack Over Time

Packing over time is always so much easier than rushing to pack at the last minute. It not only allows for more of a stress-free experience, but it also allows you to really take the time to go through each item and figure out if you truly want or need it, or not. Go Marie Kondo style and find out if the item brings you joy and adds to your life. More than likely, there will be quite a bit that does not bring joy to your life. Packing over time also lets you enjoy your life, without having to be glued to your old house and moving boxes. You can take the process slow and steady, without getting overwhelmed.

Hire Help

Hiring help for your moving experience is the number one way to reduce your stress and have an overall stress-free move. Just think about it – once you declutter and pack up, you are able to go out and enjoy life with your friends instead of having to lift heavy boxes and potentially risk hurting yourself by doing too much. Not everyone can lift a couch, but moving companies, like Atlanta Peach Movers can and will. Save your time, energy, and back by letting them do the heavy lifting for you.

Atlanta Peach Movers is Atlanta, Georgia’s premier full-service moving company. They have over 30 years of proven experience, a fleet of 38 vehicles, and thousands of satisfied customers. Atlanta Peach Movers offers residential, commercial, long distance, white glove, and even international moving services, as well, which shows that no job is too big or too small for them. They believe in doing an excellent job at a fair price – without hidden charges or fees – and they always strive to earn your trust during the moving process.

Every single one of their employees are professionally trained, as they go through an extensive training program unlike any other. They say, “We call it “Peach University,” an on-site training facility where our moving staff receives intensive instruction and practice in the careful handling of our customer’s belongings. Every employee is thoroughly trained before ever participating in a move, and all employees are required to revisit the training facility for continued instruction throughout the year. We have one the lowest claims percentages in the country because we make sure our professional movers do the job right the first time.”

President and CEO of Atlanta Peach Movers, Orlando Lynch, has worked non-stop since 1987 “to become one of the most recognized and respected leaders in the Southeast relocation industry and to create not only Georgia’s largest moving and storage company, but the region’s best, with an unwavering emphasis on customer service and quality.” His hard work and effort with Atlanta Peach Movers has been rewarded with many awards and honors such as being named the “2012 Affiliate of the Year – Atlanta Board of Realtors”, and “2011 Vendor of the Year” by the Women of AT&T – Atlanta Chapter, as well as being named the “2010 Supplier of the Year” by the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council.

Clean or Renovate Before Moving

If you are moving into a home that you need to clean or renovate (you should really clean any new home you move into), do it before you move. It’s so much easier to get your renovations done before you actually move in, so that you do not have to worry about your furniture or other items getting ruined from paint, etc. For cleaning specifically, you are going to want to give your home a really good clean. In fact, I always recommend hiring someone to do this for you AND also either replacing all carpet in the home, or getting someone to give it a really good deep clean. In addition, you should always get your air ducts cleaned. You never know what might be in there and the health of your family depends on it! Make the moving process just a bit easier by waiting to move until after your renovations or cleaning processes have taken place.

Have Fun!

When it comes down to it, not everyone loves moving, so just have fun with it. Blast the music, goof around, have friends help you, and maybe even have a pizza party. Moving is just a temporary situation, so if you have fun with it, you are set! I will say, though, that they best way to have fun (in my opinion) is to go out for pizza while Atlanta Peach Movers are doing the heavy lifting for you! 😉
