THINGS TO DO THIS SPRING IN NORTHWEST OHIO

Spring in Ohio is the most beautiful time of year. The flowers are blooming, it’s getting warmer, and it’s finally time to get outside and fully enjoy the city. Here are 10 things to add to your Northwest Ohio Spring Bucket List.

1. VISIT A TOLEDO METROPARK

As soon as the weather breaks and it starts to feel warmer, the first place I visit is the park. Toledo has so many beautiful parks to explore. There are 19 Metroparks in the Toledo area. All are free and open to the public.

•Wildflower Watch

Celebrate Ohio Plant Month with an adventure through Swan Creek Preserve Metropark to search for spring wildflowers.

•Campfire Cooking: Foil Dinners
April 27, 2023 | 5:30 pm-7:00 pm

2. VISIT THE TOLEDO FARMERS’ MARKET

The Toledo Farmers’ Market is the place to pick up locally grown products and many other locally made items.

3. ENJOY THE FLAVORS OF SPRING

With the change in season,  comes the change in menus. You’ll find a more light and vibrant offering.

Places to get a taste of Spring:

•Swanky Scoops
Swanky Scoops just released their seasonally inspired pint trio. It features Carrot Cake, Irish Cream Grasshopper, and Upside Down Cake. Limited Time Only!

• Local Coffee Shop
A few coffee shops in Toledo have already released their Spring menu and they sound amazing. Maddie & Bella have an iced coffee called Like the Gold Dust Woman that’s made with maple syrup, lavender cold foam, and a sprinkle of gold dust! Yum! And then there’s The Fly Joe serving up the Love Bug Latte, with flavors of cheesecake and red velvet. Yes, please!

•Vegan Dinner Experience
Join The Federal Inn and Sol Food Collective for a Spanish-Inspired Vegan Pop-Up Party this April. With Spicy Margarita Mocktails by Little Saints Co. It all goes down on April 13th!

5. GO TO A MUDHENS BASEBALL GAME

Opening Day is March 31st! Game tickets are available now for the 2023 season!

6. VISIT THE TOLEDO ZOO

Go get a peek at the new baby polar bear cubs this Spring before they grow up. Don’t forget to visit the brown bears at the new Komminsk Family Kodak Ridge exhibit!

Bring your favorite stuffed animal and a Zoo volunteer will patch your fluffy friend up. You will also enjoy animal feeding demonstrations and Keeper talks.

Festival season is here and that makes me very happy! Here are a few to put on your radar this spring.

Toledo Tattoo Festival
April 21-April 23 | 12 pm – 10 pm (Sunday 12 pm – 7 pm)
Glass City Center
Attendees have the opportunity to get tattooed from over 200 traveling local artists. There will also be a tattoo of the day competition daily to show off the best tattoos made at the festival.

Spring Vegan Takeover
April 29 | 11:00 am – 3:00 pm | Red Willow Event Center
Indulged in all things vegan at this festival presented by The Leaf & Seed. The event will feature all the beloved vegan vendors in the city.

Night Market in the Garden
May 12 | 4 pm – 9 pm
Toledo Botanical Gardens
Shop local makers, and enjoy live music, food trucks, and craft drinks.

40th Annual Cherry Fest
June 8 | 6 pm
Whitehouse, Ohio
Stop by to enjoy parades, a 5K race, a cherry pie eating contest, and more.
