On Saturday, October 4, 2014, Sisters Network, Inc. Atlanta Chapter held its first Gift of Life Block Walk at The Riverdale Town Center. Sisters Network Inc. is only national African American breast cancer survivorship organization in the United States. Their mission is to “increase local and national attention to the devastating impact that breast cancer has in the African American community.” They not only stress the need for education and importance of early detection, but also the need for sisterly support.
On Saturday, the sisterhood was very apparent as over 200 survivors, families, friends, and supporters walked for the cause. It was beautiful to see.
