Marysville is a charming town in Ohio, known for its beautiful historic architecture and small-town charm. The people in Marysville are welcoming and friendly, with a strong sense of community. Every resident was as friendly as the next. Their welcoming vibe was my favorite part of my visit.
Marysville, Ohio is a unique travel destination with plenty of tasty dining options, interesting local shops, community events, and exciting outdoor activities. I also love the peaceful atmosphere of this charming town. Its warmth did not go unnoticed. Here are some recommendations to enhance your experience:

COFFEE SHOPS

Shaded City Cafe Avalon
The first stop upon arriving in Marysville was Shaded City Cafe. Shaded City Cafe is a premium espresso & coffee bar located within the recently restored Avalon Theatre in Historic Uptown Marysville. I met Shaded City Cafe founder, Andrew, on my visit. He prepared an amazing latte with coffee beans he roasted himself. While I sipped on my latte, Andrew gave me a little tour of The Avalon Theatre and gave me several suggestions as to where I should take my explorations. Andrew set the tone of my stay. Marysville is a city of hospitality.

The Coffee Hall & Creamery
Sunday morning, I stopped by The Coffee Hall & Creamery. I ordered one of their house specialty, a Miel Latte made with honey and cinnamon. I enjoyed every sip while checking out the cozy coffee shop. They have so much more to offer in addition to espresso. They have ice cream, hand-shaken tea, frozen drinks, and a nice selection of breakfast items.

Richwood Coffee
I didn’t have the opportunity to check out Richwood Coffee, but I thought it was a cool concept. Richwood Bank is supporting locals with The Coffee Shop Donation program. How it works: stop at Richwood Coffee and make a donation to the charity of your choice, and then they give you a coffee card loaded with thank-you cups to enjoy at the coffee shop.

Plumm Home
If you’re like me you have a soft spot for vintage. If so, a visit to Plumm Home is a must. I met owners, Paula and Maggie, during my visit to Gathered Goods. Their shop is a couple of doors down. The shop is closed on Sunday, but they invited me to come see the shop. I happily accepted. After a short stroll, we arrived at the storefront. As I entered the shop I immediately noticed how carefully curated it was. Each item is thoughtfully picked to give shoppers the best selection. The shop highlights Mid Century pieces as well as items from small businesses across Ohio and beyond.

WHERE TO EAT

The Half Pint
I stopped by The Half Pint on Sunday for brunch! It’s a popular brunch destination so the wait was a little long. I ordered the Hangover Burger. It was made with Wagyu Beef, smoked cheddar cheese, bacon, hash browns, and sunny side egg on a brioche bun. It is worth the wait. They also have a rotating craft beer selection.

Benny’s Pizza
Almost every person I ask where I should get something good to eat said Benny’s Pizza. So I had to go! When I pulled into the parking it was full! This was indeed the spot. Notice there was a separate building next door that was dedicated to take-out only. I took that option and ordered online. I order the All The Way personal pizza. Pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, and banana peppers. Y’all this pizza is amazing. That crust! Benny’s Pizza is a must if you visit Marysville!

BREWERIES & WINERIES
Walking Distance Brewery
Saturday night I stopped by Walking Distance Brewery. I was warmly greeted by Carlie who guide me through the craft beer offerings. She introduced me to their Buzzin’, a honey west coast IPA. It was my favorite. I asked Carlie to fill out the rest of my beer flight. They were all solid brews. There was a great vibe in the air. There was live music playing, people were dancing, people laughing, and people were having a great time.

Before I left, I had a great chat with owner and head brewer, Teddy Valinski, who gave some history of the beginnings of the brewery. Walking Distance Brewery is in a building that is over 100 years old. This historic building has been revitalized into a beautiful space to gather and enjoy a great craft beer. They prioritize partnering with local growers and producers to source only the best ingredients for their beer. Again, the community is the foundation of Marysville.

Dalton Union Winery & Brewery
The last stop of my amazing weekend in Marysville was Dalton Union Winery & Brewery. My visit started with a tour of the winery by the owner’s mom. She was great and in that short time with her, I became a fan. After the tour, I enjoyed a wine flight and a small chat with the owner, Tonya. She gave me a glimpse into the winery/brewery life. Dalton Union Winery is a family-owned winery located in Marysville, Ohio. They handcraft a variety of wines on-premises, including red, white, and fruit wines. They also offer 40 taps featuring their craft beer, hard cider, craft sodas, and cold brew. Their tasting room offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere for guests to enjoy their wine and relax. Additionally, they host events and live music throughout the year. Enjoy food trucks every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

In addition to the taproom, they also have an AirBnB just steps from the winery. Tonya’s mom gave me a tour of the accommodations. Amenities include 1 full bedroom w/ queen bed, 1 full bathroom, queen pull-out sofa in the living room, theater room w/ 6 reclining theater seats, 100″ theater screen w/ hundreds of DVDs, poker room, pool table, bar area w/ kitchenette, and a large covered patio. The AirBnb and winery sit on 10 beautiful acres and is the perfect getaway.
