If you’re like me, you can appreciate a very carefully crafted cocktail. If I find a place that does that, expect me to be a return customer. A few months ago, a group of my closest friends and I met up at S.O.S Tiki Bar in downtown Decatur, GA. I had heard many great things about this place and was eager to get in there and see what it was all about. We had the best time! The food, the cocktails and good vibes all played a part in that most awesome night with my friends.
S.O.S Tiki Bar is a very cozy bar, but it has lots of personality. It kind of feels like you’ve traveled somewhere tropical and fun. Expect bartenders wearing shirts with palm trees while serving up tropical cocktail. Some with a bit of fire for that dramatic flair. The cocktail menu is amazing! Trust me, I’ve had all of them. Get there early and enjoy their rotating happy hour punch for only $5 until they run out! So much bang for your buck!
Today was National Mai Tai Day so I grabbed a friend and headed to S.O.S Tiki Bar to have a proper Mai Tai. And boy was it proper! It’s just dreamy…..
Today, I was craving a really good turkey burger for dinner. My daughter and I were headed to Decatur, when I remembered that Grindhouse Killer Burgers had just opened a new location near Decatur Square. I quickly looked up their menu to make sure they had turkey burgers. And they did! Perfect!
We arrived and was greeted with a smile. The lovely employee gave us a quick rundown on the menu as requested, since it was our first visit. I loved how easy the menu was to read, as well as all the options. I ended up ordering a turkey burger with lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, and fried green tomatoes. FRIED GREEN TOMATOES!! I was excited! It was a beautiful evening so we sat on the patio and waited for our burgers to arrive. Shortly, we were chopping on our burgers. WOW!! Soooo tasty! It was perfectly prepared on a toasted potato bun! Like I’m still trying to figure why hasn’t anyone ever told me how awesome this place is! Why????? Well now I know. I’m a fan. They’re going to be tired of seeing my face. Lol. For real…
Sage got a turkey burger with lettuce, tomato, and avocado. You can see that she is also fan as well. Lol!!
A few weeks ago, I got the chance to do something I’ve always wanted to do. Make sausage! As an ambassador at CulinaryLocal, I was sent to Pine Street Market to take this very special class. The class was taught by its owner, Rusty. He taught us how to prepare the meat, grind the meat, add spices, and stuff our own sausage links. It was very hands-on. I really enjoyed the class! Read more about my experience HERE!
Thanks Rusty for a wonderful experience in sausage making!
*As CulinaryLocal Ambassador I was invited to attend this class free of charge. All thoughts and opinions are that of my own.
