In 2017, three college friends, Clint Gray, Derrick Moore and E.J. Reed, opened their first Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria in North Nashville. This past May, they brought their Pizza.Art.Music restaurant concept to Atlanta. It is quickly becoming Atlanta’s new favorite artisan pizza destination.
The Experience
Upon entering the West Midtown establishment, you are given your 3 step guide to the ultimate Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria experience. You start by ordering your pizza. There are two options, select one of their Signature Pizzas or Build Your Own. Pizzas come in two sizes, slim (10”) and husky (16”). All pizza dough and sauces are made daily from scratch in the restaurant. Signature pizzas are named after the founders’ favorite hip hop and r&b artist and songs. You’ll find the Cee No Green, Got 5 On It, The Smokin’ Herb, and the Red Light Special on the menu. Look out for their Signature Vegan Pizza, Nothin But A “V” Thing!
I ordered the California Love (Spinach Basil Pesto, S+H House Cheese Blend, Artichoke, Sliced Tomato Blend and Red Onion). I also opted to add shrimp to my pizza. As part of the Slim & Husky’s experience, your pizza is built right in front of you. After selecting all of your toppings, your pizza is placed in the oven to be baked to perfection.
Next, you pay for your food and select your beverage of choice. Slim & Husky’s offers a nice selection of local beers as well as an additional list of craft beers curated by craft beer blogger, Ale Sharpton. If you’re the mood for a refreshing cocktail, check their Ice Ice Babies. I tried the Tea Bozz, a very tasty tea lemonade and vodka frozen treat. Slim & Husky’s also has sweet tea and fountain drinks, including a selection from Stubborn Soda.
You definitely don’t want to leave without ordering their amazingly delicious Cinnamon Rolls. There are 5 flavors to choose from that can be purchased at 2 for $5 or 6 for $12. I tasted all 5 flavors and enjoyed each one. You most definitely should try all 5 flavors! My favorite was the Ms. Berry. The Ms. Berry Cinnamon Roll was made with blueberry and a fresh lemon glaze. Delicious!!
Shortly after ordering, your name will be called to pick your pizza up. Be sure to stop by The Drizzle Station to elevate your pizza a couple more notches. There are 6 housemade drizzles to choose from including Jalapeño Cilantro Ranch, Stone Ground Peach Mustard, and Chipotle Pineapple BBQ.
Now it’s time to sit and enjoy what’s been carefully prepared for you. My pizza was absolutely delicious! I believe a great pizza starts with a stellar crust. Slim & Husky’s got that right! Their crust is awesome and the sauce is very good! Love that spinach basil pesto! My pizza was perfectly baked and I enjoyed every bite of it.
Slim & Husky’s concept is inspired by Hip Hop and R&B culture, which you will not only see in the naming of menu items, but also in the decor. Murals and paintings beautifully grace their walls and bring you into the world of Slim + Husky’s.
You will find ample seating inside the restaurant as well as on their outside patio. I loved how bright and lively it was. All that great natural light was perfect for taking pictures! The vibes were great and I can’t wait to go back! #PREAM
