Dinner in the Dark with Pinnacle French Vodka

Last week, I was excited to be invited to a lovely French Vodka tasting. The event, hosted by Chef Jennifer Booker, was held at Atmosphere Restaurant Upon arrival, guest were invited to mingle amongst each other while sipping on the first cocktail of the evening, the Champagne Spritz. Initially I thought that it just a glass of champagne, later I was informed that it was actually the French vodka topped with champagne. It was quite tasty.

Dinner guest were told that this was a Dining in the Dark experience. So we would not be told the French Vodka name until the end of the three course meal prepared by Atmosphere’s Chef Adam Olejniczak. Plot twist! Usually at media dinners, we are given a ton of information about the brand prior to the event. I was actually enjoying the suspense.

Poulpe en SALADE

Charred octopus salad with hearts of palm, Niçoise olives, fresh tomatoes, marinated anchovies, red onion, organic arugula, and lemon confit

Let’s just start by saying this salad was amazing! The flavors were light and vibrant, perfectly pairing with the slight sweetness of the vodka.


Confit de canard Moulard

Duck leg confit cooked in the time-honored French tradition, wild mushroom raviolis, glazed baby carrots, French green beans, truffles red wine reduction.

Paired with: Southern Berry Bramble

Another deliciously successful course! Everything about it screamed delectable. The duck was well seasoned and every single component on the plate played its part. Bravo! The course was paired with another French Vodka based cocktail called a Southern Berry Bramble. It was very light and fresh with the flavors of summer.


Atmosphère Profiteroles

Choux filled with French Vanilla ice cream, topped with warm chocolate, toasted Polignac almonds

Paired with: Le Orange Drop

Oh what a delightful way to end this meal. Let’s just say I ate every bite of this dessert. It was paired with another lovely cocktail with notes of citrus called Le Orange Drop.

No it was time to reveal the name of the French vodka we had the pleasure of sipping on all night.

The Weekend

2 oz Pinnacle French Vodka

1/2 oz honey

Juice of 1/2 lemon

Rosemary sprig

Ginger Beer


Combine Pinnacle French Vodka, honey, lemon, rosemary sprig, and ice into shaker.


Pour in glass over large iced cubes.

Garnish with a slice of lemon and a rosemary sprig.

10 Ways to Get Your Car Ready for the Winter Months


For the last few months, I’ve been in Ohio visiting my parents. It’s been very cold and very wintery. This morning we woke up to a fresh blanket of snow. (Sarcastic Yay!) Now don’t get me wrong, snow is beautiful. The thing is, I’m not really a fan of shoveling it, walking in it, or driving in it. Driving especially can be dangerous if you are not careful or if your car is not ready for the wintery conditions. I asked my Dad, who has 68 years of living and being in the worst of winter conditions, his top 10 ways to get his vehicle winter ready. Check out his list below! What suggestions would you add?

1. Make sure windshield wiper fluid is full. Fill up windshield wiper reservoir if needed.

2. Install proper winter windshield wipers.

3. Properly check and fill tires, including spare tire.

4. Have an adequate snow scraper in your vehicle.

5. Carry winter safety items, such as: a small shovel, blanket, and emergency lighting(flashlight).

6. Have your car battery checked. Replace if necessary. Check battery often.

7. Check antifreeze.

8. Keep a full tank.

9. Clean and inspect all exterior lights. Make sure they are operating correctly and are clean.

10. Install winter floor mats.

3 Bourbon Cocktails to Ring in the New Year

2018 is only a few days away! If you’re opting to bring in the year at home with a few friends, I’m sharing a few of Coopers’ Craft Bourbon‘s cocktail recipes from their mixologist, Michael Ring, to get you started. Michael is taking the healthier road by using fresh ingredients and ditching the sugars and syrups. He’s also provided mocktail versions for those participating in the Dry January challenge. Thanks Michael!

Cran-Orange Sparkler

1.5 oz Coopers’ Craft Bourbon

.50 oz Simple Syrup

6 ea Fresh Cranberries

2-3 oz Orange Flavored Sparkling Water

2 dash Orange Bitters

1 ea Orange Twist skewered with fresh cranberry

In a cocktail shaker, crush the cranberries to break the skins with the back of a spoon or a muddler. Add Coopers Craft Bourbon, simple syrup, and ice, then shake for 15 seconds to combine and chill. Strain into a coupe or flute and top with Orange Flavored Sparkling water, 2 dashes of orange bitters, and garnish with orange cranberry twist.

For the mocktail version replace the bourbon with lemonade

Bourbon Blackberry Rickey

1.5 oz Coopers’ Craft Bourbon

.75 oz Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice

.75 oz Simple Syrup

2-4 oz Sparkling water

4 ea Fresh blackberries

1 ea lime wheel skewered with blackberry

In a cocktail shaker, crush the blackberries, then add Coopers Craft Bourbon, lime juice, simple syrup, and fill with ice. Shake for 15 seconds to combine and chill. Strain into Collins glass, then add ice and top with sparkling water. Garnish with Lime and Blackberry skewer and serve with a straw.

Simply omit the bourbon for a delicious mocktail.

The Golden Grapefruit

1.5 oz Coopers’ Craft Bourbon

.5 oz Honey Syrup**

1 tbsp Chopped Crystalized Ginger

3-4 oz Grapefruit Flavored Sparkling Water

2-3 dsh Grapefruit or orange bitters

1 ea Mint Sprig

In a cocktail shaker muddle the crystallized Ginger and Honey syrup. Add Coopers’ Craft Bourbon and fill with ice, shake for 15 seconds until chilled. Strain into Ice filled Collins Glass, top with Grapefruit Seltzer and two dashes of bitters. Garnish with mint sprig and serve with a straw.

** Honey Syrup (1/2 cup hot water +1/2 cup honey cooled to room temp)

For the mocktail version, simply replace the bourbon with lemonade.
