House Made Pierogies (Collard Greens, Mashed Potato, Ham Hock Broth, Black-Eyed Pea Salad, Pickled Veggies)

Day 3 of the #AtlFoodiePhotoChallenge asked to featured something delicious from Midtown Atlanta. The first place that popped in my mind was Foxtrot Liquor Bar.?This very snazzy establishment in the heart of Midtown not only has beautifully crafted cocktails, but their food is amazing as well. I was totally blown away by the House Made Perogies. Proving that it’s not impossible to get comfort food at a bar. Led by Chef Tyler this spot serving up some pretty amazing bites. On a recent visit I was delighted with several items off the menu. Plates are designed for sharing, so bring your homies!

Smoked Chile Aioli, Charred Pepper Pimiento Cheese Fritters
BBQ Duck Confit Egg Rolls

As mentioned above, Foxtrot is the the perfect place to sit down and have a fab classic or crafted cocktail. The bar also has an extensive bourbon, scotch, and wine list for all of your sipping pleasures.

Foxtrot has you covered with awesome bites and stellar sip. They got you on views as well. Upon entering you are immediately sent into awe. With hardwood floors and plaid ceilings, the vibe is just oh so very inviting. Make Foxtrot Liquor Bar your destination this weekend!

Lunch 3.24.16 Davinci’s Pizzeria

Today was a pretty busy day! I got up super early and took my daughter to school. Came back home and wrote a few blog post. I’m was a tad behind! But I’m just about caught up. Left the house and went and filed my taxes. Yay taxes!! Not really though. Suddenly my stomach growled. Uh-oh. Did I eat today??? Nope. Suddenly I felt like I was starving. I need some food!!

I was in Midtown Atlanta and close to a restaurant that I’ve been wanting to try called Da Vinci’s Pizzeria. Their Yelp reviews were for the most part good. The pictures looked appetizing and they had a great lunch special. Let’s give it a try! The  lunch special was an eight inch pizza with two topping and a fountain drink for $5.99. Awesome deal! I got Chicken Sausage & Mushrooms and Sweet Tea. I came in at the right time because as soon as I ordered, the lunch rush started. Suddenly it was extremly busy. My order came out momentarily and I was in my way. It was beautiful day so I decided to sit on a bench outside to enjoy my pizza. It was pretty good! I’m a pretty big pizza fan so I would tell you if it wasn’t. I plan on going back to check the rest of the menu out very soon.

Family Free Day at the Woodruff Arts Center!

Today, my daughter and I had the most fantastic day at the Woodruff Arts Center. Despite the terrible weather Atlanta has been getting these last few days, many families were out enjoying Family Free Day. There so much to do and see. I really wished we would have gotten there earlier.

We started our funday at the High Museum of Art in the Robinson Atrium. Here we had the opportunity to take pictures with characters from The Georgia Renaissance Festival.

Next, we headed downstairs to The Green Family Education Center, where The Iris van Herpen Inspired Costume Shop was happening.  This room was buzzing! The creative juices were definitely flowing. Kids and parents were very focused on their creations. I saw some amazingly creative costumes! We were in that room a little too long.

We continued our day back in the Robinson Atrium. The Knitteratti was giving a demonstration in arm knitting. Sage was very excited and jumped right in. She caught on very quickly. There was also an interactive installation of teepees covered with cute crochet pieces.

From there we headed upstairs to view on of the current exhibits, Habsburg Splendor: Masterpieces from Vienna’s Imperial Collections. What an amazing exhibit! This collection featured pieces from one Englands greatest royal families, the Habsburgs. Some of the pieces dated back to the 1500s!

Next, we went to the Anne Cox Chambers Wing to view the newest exhibit,  Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion. Dutch designer, Iris van Herpen, combines traditional craftsmenship along with innovative technology and unusual materials to bring Atlanta the most unique pieces to view. I’m not going to say anymore about how amazing the pieces were. Just look at the pictures and see for yourself. Better yet, go see for yourself!

Our last stop was to The Alliance Theatre to see Tell Me My Dream by playwright, Pearl Cleage. This play, geared towards middle school aged kids, was about two boys time traveling from 2015 to 1910. The play touched on social and economical differences between the two eras. After the show, cast members asked questions from the audience. We also had the opportunity to meet both playwright, Pearl Cleage, and the director, Rosemary Newcott.

Today was such a fun day! And it was all free. Yay!

It’s Midtown Restaurant Week!! Yay! This year Midtown Restaurant Week celebrates their tenth year of serving up culinary excellence. It’s the perfect time to explore Midtown’s favorite restaurants.

Last week, Atlanta food bloggers were invited for a sneak peek of this year’s offerings for an exclusive Midtown Restaurant Week Tweet Up.

Our first stop was Mi Cocina. This upscale Tex-Mex restaurant puts “emphasis on using only the freshest, highest quality ingredients complemented by warm, friendly and professional service”. You definitely got that feel as soon as you walked through the doors. I walked in and was immediately greeted with four smiling face. When I walked up the beautiful stairway and reached the top, I was again greet with smiling faces. Everyone was very nice and accommodating.
Mi Cocina had prepared a very nice spread of food for us and it look absolutely delicious. But the first order of business was having a cocktail! Our waiter brought out one of their signature mojitos, the La Cubana. This cocktail made with Bacardi Silver Rum, Muddled Lime, and Mint was fantastic! I’ll be back for another one of those!

Guacamole “Mexicano”
“Award winning,” Hass Avocados blended with Cilantro, Onions and Fresh Lime Juice

Tacos “De Brisket”
Three Corn Tortillas filled with Shredded Brisket, oven roasted overnight, and Jack Cheese, Arroz and Sliced Avocado Ensalada

Ceviche de Camarones

Bacon Wraped Shrimp

We also enjoyed another one of their signature cocktails the Mambo Taxi®. Made with Sauza Silver Tequila, Lime Juice, Housemade Sangria with Pinot Noir, Brandy, and Fruit Juices, it was a showstopper! It was perfect in every way.

Shout out to Manoel and Reuban and the wonderful Mi Cocina staff for warm hospitality!

They had also prepared some lite bite for us to nosh on.

And as a parting gift, STK was so very nice and gave each blogger a STK flask!
